Design Philosophy

The Flight-Sheets system has been designed from the beginning as a replacement to paper-based flight booking and daily flight management systems.

The Flight-Sheets solution maintains the simplicity of paper-based systems, but takes advantage modern, web-based systems design to solve the problems inherint in those paper-based systems.

Easy to Use

Instructors and aircraft are booked, using an Internet browser, by clicking on the desired booking slot. Cancellations are performed the same way.

Easy to Manage

Most on-line systems add considerable workload to the operation in the form of system administration.

Not so with Flight-Sheets. Flight Dispatchers formed an integral part of the design team, ensuring that the Flight-Sheets system was built from the ground up to meet the primary design goal of reducing the Dispatchers' workload.

Flight-Sheets promotes user self management: new users can self-register to use the system and, once confirmed by the Dispatcher, can start booking resources immediately1.

Users can manage their own profiles - from contact information to e-mail and acknowledgement profiles2.

Easy to Track

All activities are tracked in an audit log, all bookings and cancellations are confirmed by e-mail to both the student/renter and to the instructor (including electronic meeting requests, so the bookings can be added to the user's electronic calendar at the click of the mouse), and notifications can even be sent out via text messaging to 2-way pagers or cell phones. There is never confusion about who is doing what

The system is hosted at an Internet Service Provider and is completely Web-based - there is no need for your operation to build a computing infrastructor at your site to host the Flight-Sheets system. Instead of having to have your own IT organization, you can focus on what you do best: flight operations and flight training.

Flight-Sheets is built using state-of-the-art Java Web Services running on an Apache/Linux server for improved reliability, availablity, and browser independence - it is built from the ground up to be available to your and your staff and customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week1.

All data is held in an SQL database for fast and reliable storage and retrieval, and full system backups are done on a daily basis and electronically sent offsite - if you accidently delete important information, that information can be easily recovered.

Transparent and Flexible

The Flight-Sheets Flight and Instructor Reservation System is customized for every client, so it looks like an extension of your current website, not some 3rd party add-on. Everything from the colours and logos used, to the length of booking periods are customized to suit the needs of your particular operation.
